Weather & Fishing App

A Windows desktop app that combines detailed weather forecasting with a dedicated toolkit for anglers — built specifically to answer the question "is today good for fishing, and when?" rather than just "what's the weather."

Weather Tab

• City search with live autocomplete and a remembered list of recent locations
• Current conditions: temperature, feels-like, humidity, wind speed & direction, pressure, UV index with risk level, visibility, and sunrise/sunset times
• 24-hour temperature trend chart
• Hourly forecast strip — scrollable, next 24 hours
• 7-day forecast with highs/lows, conditions, and precipitation chance

Fishing & Tides Tab

• Fishing conditions verdict — a Good / Fair / Poor rating with plain-English reasons behind it, weighing moon phase, tide movement, wave height, wind, swell, and cloud cover
• Best Times to Fish — scans the next 24 hours and highlights the top 1–3 windows (e.g. "6:00–8:00 AM — near sunrise, tide rising")
• Live precipitation radar — an animated, playable radar loop centered on your location
• Moon phase — current phase, illumination %, and age, with new/full moons flagged as traditionally stronger fishing windows (solunar theory)
• Tides — current rising/falling/slack trend, upcoming high/low tide times, and a 48-hour tide height chart
• Marine conditions — wave height, wave period (with estimated wavelength), swell height/period, ocean current speed & direction, and sea surface temperature, plus a 48-hour wave height chart
• Water clarity estimate — a clearly-labeled estimate (not a live sensor reading, since no free source for that exists) based on wave, wind, and rainfall conditions

Under the hood

• Free, key-free data sources throughout: Open-Meteo for weather and marine data, RainViewer for radar, plus an offline astronomical calculation for moon phase
• °C/°F and km/h/mph toggles that persist across sessions
• Auto-refreshes weather every 10 minutes; radar refreshes on location change or manual request, out of courtesy to the free tile services
• Remembers your last city and settings between launches
• Dark, custom-styled interface with hand-drawn charts (no external charting library)

The honest caveats, built into the app itself

• Tide times are modeled at ~8km resolution — good for planning, not for navigation near tricky coastlines
• Water clarity is an estimate from physical proxies, not a direct measurement
• The fishing verdict blends real conditions with traditional angling heuristics (like solunar theory) — a useful guideline, not a guarantee
